Literature Text
Will you remember time of old
And golden lonely shore
That was before Akallabeth,
Downfall of Numenor?
The land of dawn turned to the dusk
And bowed to darkened spell,
For questions that should have been asked
Into the silence fell...
Vast powers of the Isle of Star
Could conquer all the world,
Though glory, fame which spread so far
Could not resist a word...
You couldn't think that you'd obey,
But lie did well its part;
We know that our life is game,
But this turned out hard...
Now broken, fallen like a knight
Who can't make final stand:
Your world became eternal night,
For there's no dawn for land.
Now only water flows through here
And none alive shall come;
The sky reflects cold, grey like steel
And like the ocean numb.
And golden lonely shore
That was before Akallabeth,
Downfall of Numenor?
The land of dawn turned to the dusk
And bowed to darkened spell,
For questions that should have been asked
Into the silence fell...
Vast powers of the Isle of Star
Could conquer all the world,
Though glory, fame which spread so far
Could not resist a word...
You couldn't think that you'd obey,
But lie did well its part;
We know that our life is game,
But this turned out hard...
Now broken, fallen like a knight
Who can't make final stand:
Your world became eternal night,
For there's no dawn for land.
Now only water flows through here
And none alive shall come;
The sky reflects cold, grey like steel
And like the ocean numb.

Beautifully sad and haunting. The musicality of the lines is reminiscent of Tolkien's own poems.
